THE COUNTY OF CUMBRIA (CENTRAL AREA KENDAL) (EXPERIMENTAL PEDESTRIAN ISATION AND TRAFFIC REGULATION) ORDER 2018

1. The Cumbria County Council hereby give notice that on 16 August 2018 it made the above Experimental Order under Sections 9 and 10 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

The Cumbria County Council hereby give notice that on 16 August 2018 it made the above Experimental Order under Sections 9 and 10 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

2. The Experimental Order will come into operation on 3 September 2018 and its effect will be to: -



(i) Prohibit any motor vehicle from proceeding along the entire lengths of Finkle Street, Market Place and Branthwaite Brow, Kendal Except for Access.

NB: The existing loading only between 4 pm and 11 am, will remain.

(ii) Introduce "Disabled persons' parking places between 11 am and 4 pm each day, waiting limited to 3 hours, no return within I hour", on parts of Stricklandgate and Highgate, Kendal.

(iii) Introduce "Parking Places for Taxis/Hackney Carriages Only, between 11 am and 4 pm each da/', on part of Stricklandgate, Kendal.

3. The Order will continue in force for a maximum of 18 months.



4. Full details of the Experimental Order, together with a plan showing the lengths of road concerned and a statement of the Council's reasons for making the Order, may be inspected at the offices of Cumbria Highways, County Offices, Kendal, LA9 4RQ, and the offices of the undersigned during normal working hours.



5. If you wish to question the validity of the Order or of any provision contained in it on the grounds that it is not within the powers conferred by the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 or on the grounds that any requirement of that Act or any instrument made there under has not been complied with in relation to the Order, you may within six weeks of 16 August 2018 apply to the High Court for this purpose.



6. The County Council will consider in due course whether the provisions of the Experimental Order should be continued in force indefinitely. Within six months from 3 September 2018, any person may object to the making of an Order for the purpose of such indefinite continuation. Any such objection should be made in writing stating the ground upon which it is made and sent to the undersigned, or by emailing kim.baxter@cumbria.gov.uk, and quoting reference KB/4.4.1008/15.001342.
