THE COUNTY OF CUMBRIA (VARIOUS ROADS, CARLISLE URBAN AND RURAL AREA) (CONSOLIDATION AND MINOR AMENDMENT OF TRAFFIC REGULATIONS)

(ORDER 2001) VARIATION ORDER (NO. 54) (BARTON'S PLACE, CARLISLE) 2019

1. The Cumbria County Council hereby give notice that on 20 June 2019 it made the above Order under Sections 1,2, 19,32, 35, 35A, 38, 45, 46, 47, 49, 51, 53 and 64 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.



2. The Order will come into operation on I July 2019 and its effect will be to: -



(a) Introduce a "One-way traffic" restriction on that section of Barton's Place, Carlisle, from a point 54.2m south-east of its junction with Warwick Road, to its junction with Mary Street, in a south-easterly direction; and



(b) Introduce a "Prohibition of Motor Vehicles, Except for Access" restriction, on that section of Barton's Place, Carlisle, from its junction with Warwick Road, extending in a south­easterly direction for a distance of 45.8m.



Exemptions in the Order will allow motor vehicles access to Barton's Place for deliveries/collections to/from the Halston Aparthotel; the management, operation and servicing of the Halston Aparthotel; statutory undertaker's works; emergency vehicle purposes; and United Utilities vehicles to the sub-station.

3. Full details of the Order, together with a plan showing the lengths of road concerned, and a statement of the Council's reasons for making the Order may be inspected at the offices of the undersigned during normal working hours.



4. If you wish to question the validity of the Order or of any provision contained in it on the grounds that it is not within the powers conferred by the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 or on the grounds that any requirement of that Act or any instrument made thereunder has not been complied with in relation to the Order, you may within six weeks of 20 June 2019 apply to the High Court for this purpose.
