Durham County Council

The Council proposes in not less than 7 days from the date of this notice to make the following 2 Orders under Section 14 (1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act, 1984, as amended:
(RENNY'S LANE, DURHAM) (TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE) ORDER 2016
The effect will be to close to all vehicular traffic a 45m length of Renny's Lane from the mid-point between Wesley House and the properties currently known as Ernest Place, Gilesgate by reason of new student accommodation development works to be undertaken. For the duration of the works, it will be necessary to temporarily suspend the County Council of Durham (Renny's Lane, Durham) (Prohibition of Motor Vehicles) Order 2001. The maximum duration of the temporary closure under the Order is 18 months and is required from 27.06.16 for 60 weeks. Alternative route: will not be signed to vehicular traffic. Access to Wesley House and adjacent properties will be from the western approach on Renny's Lane.
(ST HILD'S LANE, DURHAM) (TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE) ORDER 2016
The effect will be to close to all vehicular traffic a 150m length of St Hild's Lane that extends southerly and north westerly from its junction with Side Gilesgate, Durham by reason of gas main upgradeworks tobeundertaken. Themaximumdurationofthe temporary closure under the Order is 18 months and is required from 27.06.16 for 3 weeks. Alternative route: via other sections of St Hild's Lane.
However, on rare occasions, alternative dates for the above 2 closures may be necessary and these will be signed accordingly.
