VARIOUS ROADS, BISHOP AUCKLAND (ELEVEN ARCHES) TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT (EXPERIMENTAL) ORDER 2016
The Council on 16/06/16 made an Experimental Order under Sections 9 & 10 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, the effect of which comes into operation on 02/07/16, foraperiodnot exceeding18months, forthedurationofthis experimental order. The effect of this Order will be to impose the following restrictions on event days only: (1) prohibit all vehicles from proceeding on (a) A689 between 22:00 & midnight (i) northbound - from its roundabout junction with High Bondgate in a northerly direction from 1m; (ii) eastbound- from its junction with the C188 in an easterly direction for 1m; (b) Unclassified Road 34.4 between 18:00 and midnight (i) from its junction with Market Place, Bishop Auckland in a northerly direction for 1m; and (ii) fromits junction with the Unclassified Road 34.5 Newfield in a southerly direction for 1m. (2) prohibit stopping & waiting between mid-dayand midnight on (a) both sides ofthe A689 from its roundabout junction with the B6286 and its roundabout junction with High Bondgate, and (b) both sides ofthe C188 from its junction with Barrington Street, Toronto to its junction with the access road to Bishop Auckland Rugby Club. (3) reduce existing 60mph speed limit to 40mph speed limit restriction on A689 between its roundabout junction with the B6286 and its roundabout junction with High Bondgate between 00:01 and midnight. (4) Prohibition of right turns: (a) Unclassified road exitingontotheA689fromCarParksA&B between12:00& 2:00; (b) C188 exiting onto the A689 between 22:00 & 2:00; (c) A689 (northbound) at its junction with the Unclassified Road entering Car parks A & B between 12:00 & 2:00; and (d) A689 (northbound) at its junction with the Unclassified Access Road to Car Park C; and (5) temporary suspension of Public Rights of Way between 16:00 hours & midnight on (a) Public Rights of Way No 86 Bishop Auckland from its junction with Public Rights of Way No. 81 Bishop Auckland to its junction with the A689; and(b)PublicRightsofWayNo85BishopAucklandfromits junction Public Rights ofWay No. 81 to its junction with the C188. Exemptionswillapply, fulldetailsofwhichcanbefoundinthe Experimental Order, which together with plans, may be inspected at Bishop Auckland library & at County Hall, Durham during normal opening hours & via the Council website.
The Council will be considering in due course whether the provisions of the Experimental Order should be continued indefinitely. Therefore within a period of 6 months from 16/06/16 any person who wishes to object to the making ofa permanent order should send their grounds of objection, in writing, to Loraine Holding, Legal Assistant, Legal Services, County Hall, Durham or via email to highways.orders@durham. gov. uk quoting ref: 9996.
