THE COUNTY OF CUMBRIA (U5356 MOSS END LANE, MILLNESS) (WESTMORLAND COUNTY SHOW) (TEMPORARY ONE-WAY TRAFFIC RESTRICTION) ORDER 2018

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to due to the likelihood of danger to the public whilst the Westmorland County Show takes place on adjacent land and to assist in providing safer access into and out of the showground, the County Council of Cumbria has made an Order the effect of which is to:-

1. Prohibit any vehicle from proceeding other than in a north westerly direction between the hours of 0700 and 1400, along that section of the U5356 Moss End Lane, Millness from its [unction with the A6070 adjacent to the property known as" Moss End Farm" to its junction with the B6385, Woodlands Nursery for a distance of approx. 1.95km.

Prohibit any vehicle from proceeding other than in a north westerly direction between the hours of 0700 and 1400, along that section of the U5356 Moss End Lane, Millness from its [unction with the A6070 adjacent to the property known as" Moss End Farm" to its junction with the B6385, Woodlands Nursery for a distance of approx. 1.95km.

N.B. All locally affected businesses are open as normal except for those at Farleton View due to the diverted traffic.

2. Prohibit any vehicle from proceeding other than in a south easterly direction between the hours of 1400 and 2000 along that section of the U5356 Moss End Lane, Millness from its junction with the B638S, Woodlands Nursery to its junction with the A6070 adjacent to the property known as" Moss End Farm" for a distance of approx. 1.95km.



A suitable alternative route for restricted one-way traffic in I and 2 above and will be signed and available via the A6070, A65 Crooklands and the B6385.

Nothing in the Order to which this notice relates shall:

1. Apply to emergency service vehicles, or vehicles being used by statutory undertakers in the performance of their duties; and

2. Apply to anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police constable in uniform; and



3. Have the effect of preventing at any time access for pedestrians to any premises situated on or adjacent to the roads, or to any other premises accessible for pedestrians from, and only from the road.



Traffic signs: The one-way traffic direction will be indicated by temporary traffic signs (supplied by AA) and erected by the County Show Stewards on the show day. The one-way restrictions will only be in force when the appropriate traffic signs are displayed. Other temporary signs will be erected to indicate alternative routes as well as directions to and from the showground.

The Order will come into operation on 13 September 2018 and may continue in force for a period of up to eighteen months from that date as and when the relevant traffic signs are displayed, although it is anticipated that it will only be required for I day.
