The County Of Cumbria (Various Roads, Kendal) (Kendal Torchlight Carnival)
(Temporary Traffic Regulation) Order 2022

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to facilitate the holding of the Kendal Torchlight Carnival ("the Event") in Kendal, the County Council of Cumbria has made an Order the effect of which is to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding along the following lengths of road in Kendal:

1. A6 Highgate, from its junction with Allhallows Lane and Lowther Street to Stricklandgate; and

2. A6 Stricklandgate, from Highgate to its junction with Library Road; and

3. Market Place - for its entire length; and

4. Branthwaite Brow - for its entire length; and

5. Finkle Street - for its entire length.

There are no suitable alternative routes available for vehicles. A way for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times.

Nothing in the Order to which this notice relates shall:

(i) Apply to emergency service vehicles, or vehicles being used by statutory undertakers in the performance of their duties; and

(ii) Apply to anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police constable in uniform; and

(iii)Have the effect of preventing at any time access for pedestrians to any premises situated on or adjacent to the roads, or to any other premises accessible for pedestrians from, and only from the roads; and
(iv)Apply to vehicles being used in connection with the Event. Any queries to the Highways Hotline 0300 303 2992 or via the Cumbria County Council website. The reference to quote is SL2022/12.

The Order will come into operation on 24 September 2022 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of three days from that date. However, please note that it is anticipated that the restrictions will only be required between 0600 hours and 1800 hours on Saturday 24 September 2022, and only as and when the appropriate traffic signs are displayed
