Cumbria, Traffic Notice, Temporary Prohibition of Vehicles

The County Of Cumbria (U2i03 Bothel To Torpenhow And A595) (Temporary Traffic Regulation) Order 2022

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable CTM (Cumbria Traffic Management), on behalf of Story Contracting to carry out works for the construction of a new road junction and changes to an existing road junction ("the Works"), the County Council of Cumbria has made an Order the effect of which is to:

1. Prohibit all traffic (i.e., vehicles, pedestrians and cyclists) from proceeding along that section of the U2103 Bothel to Torpenhow, from its junction with the A595 at Bothel, extending in an easterly direction for approx. 300 metres.

A suitable alternative route for vehicles will be signed and available via the unrestricted section of the U2103, U2105 and
A595.

Nothing in the Order to which this notice relates, in respect of
the restriction detailed in 1 above, shall:
(i) Apply to personnel and vehicles being used in connection with
the Works; and
(ii)Apply, to any landowner requiring access to, or egress from, any land situated adjacent to the said length of road; and (iii)Have the effect of preventing at any time access for pedestrians to any premises situated on or adjacent to the road, or to any other premises accessible for pedestrians from, and only from the road.
2. Prohibit any vehicle from proceeding at speeds in excess of 30 miles per hour along that section of the A595, from a point approx. 325 metres south of its junction with the U2103, extending in an overall northerly direction for approx. 1.2 kilometres.

Nothing in the Order to which this notice relates, in respect of the restriction detailed in 2 above, shall:
(i) Apply to emergency service vehicles, or vehicles being used by statutory undertakers in the performance of their duties; and

(ii) Apply to anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police constable in uniform; and

(iii)Apply to vehicles falling within regulation 3(4) of the Road Traffic Exemptions (Special Forces) (Variation and Amendment) Regulations 2011 when used in accordance with regulation 3(5) of those Regulations.

The Order will come into operation on 30 May 2022 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months. However, please note that it is anticipated that the restrictions will be required for approx. 30 weeks, and only as and when the appropriate traffic signs are displayed.
