THE COUNTY OF CUMBRIA (VARIOUS ROADS, WINDERMERE) (WINDERMERE CHRISTMAS CELEBRATIONS) (TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION) ORDER 2019

THE COUNTY OF CUMBRIA (VARIOUS ROADS, WINDERMERE) (WINDERMERE CHRISTMAS CELEBRATIONS) (TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION) ORDER 2019

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to facilitate the holding of the Windermere Christmas Celebrations ("the Event") in Windermere and to enable members of the public to watch the Event and reduce the disruption to traffic likely to be caused by the Event, the County Council of Cumbria has made an Order the effect of which is to;

1. Prohibit any vehicle from proceeding along the following lengths of road;



(a) A5074 High Street, Windermere from its junction with Elleray Road, extending in a north easterly direction for approx 68m;



Duration: From 0900 hours on Friday 13 December 2019 to 1900 hours on Sunday 15 December 2019.

(b) A5074 High Street, Windermere from its junction with the A59I to its junction with Elleray Road; and



(c) A5074 Victoria Street, Windermere from its junction with the A5074 Crescent Road to its junction with High Street; and



(d) U5744 Cross Street, Windermere from its junction with the A5074 Victoria Street, extending in a south easterly direction for approx. 70m;



(e) Crescent Road, Windermere from its junction with A5074 Elleray Road to the junction with U5745 Beech Street Duration of restrictions detailed in 1(b) to 1(e) inclusive: From 0400 hours on Saturday 14 December 2019 to 1900 hours on Sunday 15 December 2019.



2. Prohibit any vehicle from proceeding other than in a southerly direction along that section of the U5743 College Road, Windermere from its junction with the A5074 Elleray Road to its junction with the A5074 New Road;



Duration: From 0400 hours on Saturday 14 December 2019 to 1900 hours on Sunday 15 December 2019.

3. Prohibit any vehicle to wait at any time, on any day or to load/unload at any time, on any day (including blue badge holders) along both sides of the Centre Gap, Windermere (Beech Street Link Road) between Crescent Road and Main Road.



Duration: From 0400 hours on Saturday 14 December 2019 to 1900 hours on Sunday 15 December 2019.

N.B: To allow vehicles to access the unrestricted section of Crescent Road from Main Road the existing one-way restriction on the Centre Gap, Windermere (Beech Street Link Road) connecting Crescent Road and Main Road will be temporarily suspended to allow two way traffic flow, for the duration of the Event

4. Prohibit any vehicle (except for buses) from making a right turn from the A5074 Elleray Road onto the A59I. Duration: From 0400 hours on Saturday 14 December 2019 to 1900 hours on Sunday 15 December 2019.



5. Prohibit any vehicle (except for buses and vehicles requiring access only to properties and business premises) from proceeding along the following lengths of road;



(a) A5074 Elleray Road from its junction with A59I to its junction with A5074 Crescent Road; and



(b) A5074 Main Road from its junction with A5074 Crescent Road to its junction with A5074 Elleray Road; and



(c) A5074 Crescent Road from its junction with A5074 Elleray Road to its junction with A5074 Main Road.



Duration: From 0400 hours on Saturday 14 December

2019 to 1900 hours on Sunday 15 December 2019.

A way for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained

at all times. A suitable alternative route for vehicles affected by

the restrictions will be available via the A59I, A592 Rayrigg Road

and US780 Birthwaite Road.

Nothing in the Order to which this notice relates shall:

1. Apply to emergency service vehicles, or vehicles being used by statutory undertakers in the performance of their duties; and

2. Apply to anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police constable in uniform; and



3. Have the effect of preventing at any time access for pedestrians to any premises situated on or adjacent to the roads, or to any other premises accessible for pedestrians from, and only from the roads; and

quoting the reference SL19/7026. The Order will come into operation on 13 December 2019 and may continue in force for a maximum period of up to three days from that date. It is anticipated that the restrictions will be required as detailed above and only as and when the appropriate traffic signs are displayed.
