CUMBRIA COUNTY COUNCIL NOTICE OF INTENT TO CONVERT FOOTWAYS TO SHARED USE FOOTWAYS AND CYCLETRACKS - A6 SHAP ROAD, KENDAL (BETWEEN MINT BRIDGE AND ANN STREET / WILDMAN STREET JUNCTION)
1. The Cumbria County Council hereby give notice that it is proposing to convert those sections of footway as specified in the below Schedule, to shared use footway and cycle track using the powers under Section 66(4) and Section 65(1) of the Highways Act 1980.

2. The route is approximately 1.2 miles in length and runs along Shap Road, Kendal, from Mint Bridge to the junction between Ann Street and Wildman Street

3. The existing footways will be widened to 3 metres and converted to shared use footways and cycletracks (to a standard considered safe for unsegregated use by the Department for Transport)

4. In addition to the footway conversions, the County Council of Cumbria intends to introduce and mark an advisory cycle track within the carriageways of Wildman Street Ann Street and Castle Street, Kendal. Advisory signs will also be posted along Castle Garth and Kirkbie Green, Kendal to indicate the advisory cycle route.

5. A plan of the proposals may be inspected at Cumbria Highways, County Offices, Kendal, Cumbria.

SCHEDULE
(a) the east side of the A6 Shap Road, Kendal, from Mint Bridge to the toucan crossing close to Rosemede Avenue, then, crossing over to;

(b) the west side of the A6 Shap Road, Kendal, to the toucan crossing by Kendal Railway Station, where it then crosses over to run again;

(c) on the east side of the A6 Shap Road, Kendal.

(d) There will also be a section between White Stiles and Rosemede Avenue on the west side of the A6 Shap Road.
