The County Of Cumbria (U2650 Central Way, Workington) (Temporary Traffic Regulation) Order 2023

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable Cumbria Highways to carry out bridge inspection works ("the Works"), the County Council of Cumbria has made an Order the effect of which is to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding along that section of the U2650, Central Way, Workington, from its junction with Central Square, extending in a northerly direction for a distance of approx. 85 m.

A way for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times.

A suitable alternative route for vehicles not exceeding 3.1m in height will be signed and available via the unrestricted sections of Central Way, Griffin Street, William Street, A597 and the B5297 Station Road and Oxford Street
There is no suitable alternative route for vehicles exceeding 3.1m in height.

N.B. To facilitate the alternative route detailed above and allow two-way traffic flow under traffic management (traffic lights), the existing one-way restriction on that section the U2650, Central Way, Workington, from its junction with the access road to/exit from the Service Yard to its junction with the entrance to Brow Top Pay and Display Car Park, will be temporarily suspended for the duration of the works.

Nothing in the Order to which this notice relates shall:

1. Apply to emergency service vehicles, or vehicles being used by statutory undertakers in the performance of their duties; and

2. Apply to anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police constable in uniform; and

3. Have the effect of preventing at any time access for pedestrians to any premises situated on or adjacent to the road, or to any other premises accessible for pedestrians from, and only from the road; and

4. Apply to vehicles being used in connection with the Works. Any queries to the Highways Hotline 0300 303 2992 or via the Cumbria County Council website. The reference to quote is TTRO/2997.

The Order will come into operation on 28 January 2023 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months. However, please note that it is anticipated that the restriction will only be required from 2000 hours on Saturday 28 January 2023 to 0100 hours on Sunday 29 January 2023, and only as and when the appropriate traffic signs are displayed.
