Grayrigg Common to Hause Bridge, Temporary Traffic Restrictions

THE COUNTY OF CUMBRIA (A685 GRAYRIGG COMMON TO HAUSE BRIDGE) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF ALL TRAFFIC) ORDER 2022

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable Cumbria Highways to carry out drainage, resurfacing and associated highway works ("the Works"), the County Council of Cumbria has made an Order the effect of which is to prohibit all traffic (i.e., vehicles, pedestrians and cyclists) from proceeding along that section of the A685 Grayrigg Common from its junction with the B6257, extending in a northerly direction for approx 2,800 metres to Hause Bridge.

A suitable alternative route for vehicles which are permitted to use the motorway will be signed and available as follows: South Bound Vehicles - via the unrestricted section of the A685, J38 M6 southbound, exit at junction 37, A684, U856 and A685.

North Bound Vehicles: via the A685, U856, A684, J37 M6

northbound, exit at junction 38 and unrestricted section of

A685.

A suitable alternative route for vehicles which are NOT permitted to use the motorway will be signed and available via the B6260, B6261, A6, C5102 and A685. Nothing in the Order to which this notice relates shall:

1. Apply to emergency personnel or emergency service vehicles, or vehicles being used by statutory undertakers in the performance of their duties; and



2. Apply to anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police constable in uniform; and



3. Have the effect of preventing at any time access for pedestrians to any premises situated on or adjacent to the road, or to any other premises accessible for pedestrians from, and only from the road; and



4. Apply to personnel and vehicles being used in connection with the Works.

The Order will come into operation on 23 May 2022 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months. However, please note that it is anticipated that the restriction will only be required for 20 days and only as and when the appropriate traffic signs are displayed.
