A66 Trunk Road (Troutbeck) (Eastbound & Westbound Carriageways)

THE A66 TRUNK ROAD (TROUTBECK) (EASTBOUND & WESTBOUND CARRIAGEWAYS)
(TEMPORARY RESTRICTION AND PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2022 NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that National Highways Limited (Company No. 09346363) intends to make an Order on the A66 Trunk Road, in the District of Eden, in the County of Cumbria, to enable the upgrade of a weather station, earth works, barrier works, and other general maintenance; to be carried out in safety. The Order will:
a) impose a 40 mph speed limit on the following sections of the A66 Trunk Road:

i. the eastbound carriageway, from a point 1,237 metres west of the Walthwaite/ Mungrisdale Caldbeck Junction,

to a point 1,000 metres east of the Troutbeck Junction;
ii. the westbound carriageway, from a point 1,000 metres east of the Troutbeck Junction, to a point 69 metres west of the same point;

iii. the westbound carriageway, from a point 639 metres west of the Walthwaite/ Mungrisdale Caldbeck Junction, to a point 1,237 metres west of the same point.

b) ban all traffic from the A66 westbound carriageway, from a point 69 metres west of the Troutbeck Junction, to a point 639 metres west of the Walthwaite/Mungrisdale Caldbeck Junction. During the westbound closure, westbound traffic will be directed to cross over onto the eastbound carriageway where a contraflow system will be in place.

c) ban all traffic from overtaking on the A66 eastbound and westbound carriageways, from a point 1,237 metres west of the Walthwaite/Mungrisdale Caldbeck Junction, to a point 1,000 metres east of the Troutbeck Junction.

d) ban all traffic from the following laybys adjacent to the A66 Trunk Road located at points:

i. 510 metres west of the Troutbeck Junction, on the westbound carriageway;

ii. 379 metres west of the Walthwaite/ Mungrisdale Caldbeck Junction, on the eastbound carriageway;

iii. 650 metres east of the Troutbeck Junction, on the eastbound carriageway.

e) ban all traffic from turning left or right from the A66 eastbound or westbound dual carriageways, into and out of the following:

i. the unnamed minor road/Lane Head Farm Junction, located 720 metres east of the Walthwaite/Mungrisdale Caldbeck Junction;

ii. the unnamed minor road, located 253 metres east of the Troutbeck Junction;

iii. the Walthwaite Junction;

iv. the Mungrisdale Caldbeck Junction.

f) ban all traffic from the following bus stop laybys adjacent to the A66 Trunk Road located at points:

i. 16 metres east of the Walthwaite/ Mungrisdale Caldbeck Junction on the eastbound carriageway;

ii. 29 metres west of the Walthwaite/ Mungrisdale Caldbeck Junction on the westbound carriageway;

iii. 16 metres west of the Troutbeck Junction on the eastbound carriageway.

The restrictions and prohibitions are expected to take place during a continuous period starting at 20:00 on Sunday 10 April 2022 and ending at 06:00 on Friday 13 May 2022. However, works may start and continue during subsequent continuous periods until completed. Diversion routes via alternative junctions of the A66 Trunk Road and local roads will be well signed for all traffic including wide loads. The restrictions will not apply to emergency services or special-forces vehicles, and the prohibitions will not apply to emergency services, works, traffic officer or winter maintenance vehicles. The restrictions and prohibitions will only apply during such times and to such extent as shall, from time to time, be indicated by traffic signs. The Order comes into force on 9 April 2022 and has a maximum duration of eighteen months. For further information contact
