THE COUNTY OF CUMBRIA (A5084 NEAR TORVER AND AS91 WHITE MOSS COMMON, NEAR GRASMERE) (TEMPORARY 30MPH SPEED RESTRICTION) ORDER 2020
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable Cumbria Highways to carry out wall repair works ("the Works), the County Council of Cumbria intends to make an Order the effect of which is to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding at speeds in excess of 30 miles per hour along the following lengths of road:-
1. A5084 near Torver From a point approx. 750m south west of its junction with the U5042 extending in a south westerly then south easterly direction for approx. 40m.

2. A59I White Moss Common, near Grasmere: From a point approx. 160m north east of its junction with the U5526 extending in an easterly direction for approx. 40m.

N.B. The 30 miles per hour speed restriction will operate where work is ongoing and when the contractor's operatives and plant are on site. It is required to protect road users passing through restricted width traffic lanes. It will be operated on a convoy system with a lead vehicle controlling traffic speed to protect the workforce.
A way for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times.
No speed limit imposed by this Order will apply to vehicles falling within regulation 3(4) of the Road Traffic Exemptions (Special Forces) (Variation and Amendment) Regulations 2011 when used in accordance with regulation 3(5) of those Regulations.

The Order will come into operation on 22 June 2020 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months. However, please note that it is anticipated that the restrictions will only be required for 3 months only as and when the relevant traffic signs are displayed.
