THE COUNTY OF CUMBRIA (VARIOUS ROADS IN WORKINGTON) (CHRISTMAS LIGHTS SWITCH ON EVENT) (TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION) ORDER 2019
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to facilitate the holding of the Christmas Lights switch on event ("the Event") in Workington and to enable members of the public to watch the Event, the County Council of Cumbria has made an Order under Section I6A of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (the 1984 Act), the effect of which is to>
1. Prohibit any vehicle from proceeding along the following lengths of road:-

(i) U2645 Speedwell Lane, Workington - For its entire length; and

(ii) U2588 Murray Road, Workington, from its junction with the U2728 Finkle Street, extending in a south westerly direction for approx. 190m; and

(iii) U2728 Finkle Street, Workington, from its junction with the U2588 Murray Road, extending in a north westerly direction for approx. 104m to its junction with the U267I Warwick Place; and

(iv) U2728 Pow Street, Workington, from its junction with the U2662 Udale Street, extending in a north westerly direction for approx. 177m to its junction with the U2588 Murray Road/112645 Speedwell Lane.

A suitable alternative route for vehicles during the closure on Speedwell Lane will be available via the U2443 Brow Top. There is no suitable alternative route available for vehicles during the closures of Murray Road, Finkle Street and Pow Street To facilitate the alternative route for the closure on the U2645 Speedwell Lane and allow two-way traffic flow the following existing one-way restrictions will be temporarily suspended:-
(a) U2443 Brow Top, Workington from its junction with the U2645 Speedwell Lane to its junction with the U2545 William Street; and

(b) U2728 Finkle Street, Workington from its junction with the U267I Warwick Place to its junction with the U2458 Vulcans Lane.

2. Prohibit any vehicle from waiting at any time and to load/unload at any time (including blue badge holders), on any day along the following lengths of road:-

(i) U2443 Brow Top (both sides) from its junction with the U2645 Speedwell Lane to its junction with the U2545 William Street; and

(ii) U2443 Finkle Street (both sides) from its junction with the U267I Warwick Place, extending in a north westerly direction for approx.71 metres to its junction with the U2458 Vulcans Lane.

(iii) The north east end of Upton Street, from a point 8m south­east of its junction with Warwick Place, extending along the entire length of the existing parking bays, to a point 13m south­east of its junction with Warwick Place.

A way for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times.
Nothing in the Order to which this notice relates shall:
(i) Apply to emergency service vehicles, or vehicles being used by statutory undertakers in the performance of their duties; and

(ii) Apply to anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police constable in uniform; and

(iii)Have the effect of preventing at any time access for pedestrians to any premises situated on or adjacent to the roads, or to any other premises accessible for pedestrians from, and only from the roads; and

The Order will come into operation on 30 November 2019 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of three days from that date. However, please note that it is anticipated that the restrictions will only be required from 0400 hours on Saturday 30 November 2019 to 2359 hours on Saturday 30 November 2019 and only as and when the appropriate traffic signs are displayed
