ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 - SECTION 14 THE A56 TRUNK ROAD (NORTHBOUND AND SOUTHBOUND CARRIAGEWAYS AND SLIP ROADS AND RISING BRIDGE ROUNDABOUT)
[TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2018 NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Highways England Company Limited (Company No. 09346363) has made an Order on the A56 Trunk Road, in the Boroughs of Rossendale, Bury and Hyndburn, in the County of Lancashire, to enable replacement of kerbs, gully installation, and other general maintenance works; to be carried out in safety.
a) The Order will ban all traffic from the following sections of the A56 Trunk Road:

i. the A56 northbound carriageway, from the last point where the exit slip road leaves the carriageway to Bent Gate Roundabout, to the first point where it joins the A56 northbound carriageway at Todd Hall Road;

ii. the A56 northbound carriageway, from the roundabout junction with the A56/A680 Blackburn Road (Rising Bridge), to the first point at which the entry slip from the A679 Burnley Road joins the A56 carriageway;

iii. the A56 southbound carriageway, from the last point where the exit slip road to the A679 Burnley Road leaves the carriageway, to the roundabout junction with the A56/A680 Blackburn Road (Rising Bridge);

iv. the A56 northbound carriageway, from the last point where the A679 Burnley Road exit slip road leaves the carriageway, to its roundabout junction with the M65 at Junction 8;

v. the A56 southbound carriageway, from its roundabout junction with the M65 at Junction 8, to the first point at which the entry slip road from the A679 Burnley Road joins the carriageway;

vi. the A56 northbound exit slip road to Bent Gate Roundabout;

vii. the A56 northbound entry slip road from Bent Gate Roundabout;

viii. the A56 northbound exit slip road to the B6232 Grane Road;

ix. the A56 northbound exit slip road to the A679 Burley Road Roundabout;

x. the A56 southbound entry slip road from the A679 Burnley Road Roundabout;

xi. the A56 northbound entry slip road from the A679 Burnley Road Roundabout;

xii. the A56 southbound exit slip road to the A679 Burnley Road Roundabout.

b) The Order will ban all traffic from laybys adjacent to the A56 Trunk Road as follows:

i. on the northbound carriageway, located at points 1,700,3,500 and 4,500 metres north of the of the Rising Bridge Roundabout;

ii. on the southbound carriageway, located at a points 700,2,300 and 3,600 metres north of the Rising Bridge Roundabout.

c) The Order will ban traffic from the following side roads:

i. turning left from the A56 northbound carriageway onto Todd Hall Road;

ii. turning left or right from Sandy Lane onto the A56 northbound or southbound carriageways;

iii. turning left from Plantation Road onto the A56 southbound carriageway;

iv. turning left from Kings Highway onto the A56 southbound carriageway;

v. turning left or right from Heights Farm access road onto the A56 northbound or southbound carriageways;

The prohibitions are expected to take place overnight between 22:00 and 05:00 (continuing to 07:00 on Saturday and Sunday mornings), during a period starting on Monday 18 June 2018 and ending on Sunday 5 August 2018. However, work may start and continue between the same times on subsequent nights or continue until completed. Diversion routes via alternative junctions of the A56 Trunk Road and local roads will be well signed.
The prohibitions will not apply to emergency services, works, or traffic officer vehicles, and will only apply during such times and to such extent as shall be indicated by traffic signs.
