Rake Wood, Temporary Prohibition of all Traffic

The County Of Cumbria (A683 Rake Wood, A5074 Near Levens And A6070 Burton-In-Kendal) (Temporary Prohibition Of All Traffic) Order 2022

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable Cumbria Highways to carry out drainage, resurfacing, slope stabilisation and associated highway works ("the Works"), the County Council of Cumbria has made an Order the effect of which is to prohibit all traffic (i.e. vehicles, pedestrians and cyclists) from proceeding along the following lengths of road:

1.
A683 Rake Wood to Cross Keys, Cautley.
From a point approx 365 metres north of its junction with Hebblethwaite Hall Lane, extending in a northerly direction for approx. 4,200 metres to a point approx. 320 metres north of the Cross Keys Temperance Hotel. Alternative routes
(a) Vehicles not exceeding 18 tonnes maximum gross weight - via the unrestricted sections of the A683, A685, U3424, B6259, A684, C5105 Busk Lane and C5101 Loftus Hill.

(b) Vehicles exceeding 18 tonnes maximum gross weight and motorway permitted traffic -

South Bound Vehicles - via the unrestricted section of the A683, A685, M6 southbound at J38, exit M6 at Junction 37 and A684. North Bound Vehicles - via the unrestricted section of the A683, C5101 Loftus Hill, C5105 Busk Lane, M6 northbound at Junction
37, exit M6 at Junction 38, A685 and A683.
Duration: From 4 July 2022 for approx. 20 days (RefSL22/CCC-07(02))

2.
A6070 Green Dragon Farm to Heron Syke, Burton-in-Kendal.
From its junction with the C5085 Dalton Lane, extending in a southerly direction for a distance of approx. 295 metres to a point adjacent to the property known as 'Heronsyke'. Alternative routes:
South Bound Vehicles - via the unrestricted sections of the
A6070, A590 and A6.
North Bound Vehicles - via the A6, A590 and unrestricted section of the A6070.

3.
A5074 Near Levens
From a point approx. 190 metres north of the property known as 'Gilpin Cottage' extending in a northerly direction for approx. 100 metres. Alternative routes:
South Bound Vehicles - Via the unrestricted section of the
A5074, B5284 Longtail Hill, A592 and the A590 east to Gilpin
Bridge.
North Bound Vehicles - via unrestricted sections of the A5074, A590 east to Brettargh Holt, A590 west to Newby Bridge, A592 and B5284 Longtail Hill.
Duration: From 1 August 2022 for approx. 20 days (Ref: SL22/CCC-08(01))

Nothing in the Order to which this notice relates shall:
(i) Apply to emergency personnel and emergency service vehicles, or vehicles being used by statutory undertakers in the performance of their duties; and

(ii) Apply to anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police constable in uniform; and

(iii)Have the effect of preventing at any time access for pedestrians to any premises situated on or adjacent to the roads, or to any other premises accessible for pedestrians from, and only from the roads; and
(iv)Apply to personnel and vehicles being used in connection with the Works.

The Order will come into operation on 4 July 2022 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months. However, please note that it is anticipated that the restrictions will only be required as detailed above, and only as and when the appropriate traffic signs are displayed.
