(Ironman)(Bolton) - (Temporary Closure) Order 2022

NOTICE is hereby given that the Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council has made the above Order under Section 21 of the Town Police Clauses I Act 1847, and of all other powers enabling, after consultation with the Chief Officer of Police and being satisfied that traffic should be restricted by reason of the planned IRONMAN.

The Order will come into force from 06:00 on 3rd July 2022 and shall continue in force until 19:00 on 3rd July 2022 or until the event is completed, whichever is the earlier.

The effect of the order is to temporarily close Rivington Road, High Street, Egerton Road, Longworth Road, Blackburn Road, Green Arms Road, | Wellington Road, Bury Road, Stones Bank Road and Belmont Road.

1. Temporary Road Closures - from 08.00 until 16.30 on Sunday 3rd July 2022 (or at such time as the last competitor has passed this point if earlier)

Rivington Road, Rivington Moor from a point 221m east of its junction with Belmont Road at Hordern Stoops, Rivington Moor to its junction with the A675 High Street, Belmont.  No vehicular will be maintained.

3. Temporary One-Way Road Closures - from 07.30 until 16.30 on Sunday 3rd July 2022 (or at such time as the last competitor has passed this point if earlier)

One Way Road closure which will temporarily prohibit vehicles and cycles (except for Triathlon participants) travelling in the following direction over the following length of roads;  Access & Diversion Routes

Travelling in a Southerly direction over Broadhead Road from its junction with Long Hey Lane to its junction with Bolton Road, Edgworth.  Access will be maintained via the One-Way closure.

Travelling in a Southerly direction over Bolton Road from its junction with Broadhead Road to its merging with Wellington Road, Edgworth.  Access will be maintained via the One-Way closure.

5. Temporary One-Way Road Closures - from 08.00 until 17.00 on Sunday 3rd July 2023 (or at such time as the last competitor has passed this point if earlier)
One Way Road closure which will temporarily prohibit vehicles and cycles (except for Triathlon participants) travelling in the following direction over the following length of roads;

Temporary restriction on vehicles waiting, loading or unloading in the lengths of roads as listed below unless the vehicle is being used in connection with the event; or being used for police, fire brigade or ambulance purposes on the dates and times detailed below (or at such time as the last competitor has passed this point if earlier).
The restrictions are necessary to ensure the safety of all road users and the safe passage of participants in the Ironman UK Triathlon Event.
