THE COUNTY OF CUMBRIA (VARIOUS ROADS IN THE COPELAND AREA) (TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION) (NO.1) ORDER 2022
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable United Utilities to carry out utility works ("the Works"), the County Council of Cumbria has made an Order the effect of which is to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding along the following sections of road:
1. U4033 Rottington, Whitehaven: From its junction with the U4432 extending in a south westerly direction for approx. 70m. Alternative route: via the unrestricted sections of the U4033, and U4034.
From 14 March 2022 for approx. 3 days (Ref: CO22-009)
2. C4004 Kirkland: From its junction with West Road extending in a northerly direction for approx. 600m. Alternative route: via the unrestricted sections of the C4004, C4017, and the A5086 Frizington Road and Main Street. From 30 March 2022 for approx. 3 days (Ref: CO22-021)

3. C4009 Linethwaite Road, Moor Row: From a point approx. 900m south west of its junction with the A595 extending in a south westerly direction for approx. 100m. Alternative route: via the unrestricted sections of the C4009,

B5345, C4035, and A595.
From 28 March 2022 for approx. 3 days (Ref: CO22-022)
4. C4003 Scalegill Road, Moor Row: From its junction with West Spur extending in a westerly direction for approx. 75m. Alternative route: via the unrestricted sections of the C4003

Scalegill Road, A595 Egremont Road, B5295 Main Street and
Cleator Moor Road.
From 28 March 2022 for approx. 3 days (Ref: CO22-023)
The above works will not necessarily be done in numerical order.
The contractor will ensure that local residents and the general public are informed of which roads are to be closed and when, nearer the time.
A way for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times.
Nothing in the Order to which this notice relates shall:
1. Apply to emergency service vehicles, or vehicles being used by statutory undertakers in the performance of their duties; and

2. Apply to anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police constable in uniform; and

3. Have the effect of preventing at any time access for pedestrians to any premises situated on or adjacent to the road, or to any other premises accessible for pedestrians from, and only from the road; and

4. Apply to vehicles being used in connection with the Works. Any queries to the Highways Hotline 0300 303 2992 or email

, quoting the references as above. The Order will come into operation on 14 March 2022 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months. However, please note that it is anticipated that the restrictions will only be required as specified above and only as and when the appropriate traffic signs are displayed.
