WEST Cumbrian energy engineering firm Delkia is expanding south.

The company, which is based in Cleator Moor, has opened a new facility in Birchwood, Warrington, just off the M6 between Manchester and Liverpool.

The decision came about because the firm has an expanding customer base in that part of the north west.

Members of the Delkia team regularly travel to the Warrington area and will continue to do so until their recruitment campaign is successful. This new site is designed to help the company focus on customer service for its clients.

Based at Leconfield Industrial Estate, Delkia was established by the consultancy Safety Critical in 2014 as an engineering division. It was rebranded to Delkia last year. Clients include NG Bailey and nuclear heavyweights. It develops and produces bespoke control panels for the control of pumps, motors and machinery.

Stewart Watkins, managing director at Delkia, said: “We take the time to listen to our customers’ concerns and frustrations and find we have a lot of empathy with them because our engineers have been in the same position when they were working on various different industrial sites.

“It’s only after we’ve listened to our customers that we can respond with practical and detailed solutions that we know are fit for purpose. This collaborative approach ensures the solutions are based on not only our knowledge and experience, but also that of our customers. It sounds like a simple approach but it is so easy to get it wrong.”

As well as a new name, logo and website, the company’s facilities on Leconfield Industrial Estate are getting a revamp. Improvements are planned for both the staff facilities and the layout of the workshop.

Angie Dean, office and quality manager with the company, said: “Delkia has also been involved in a number of jobs including supporting a number of factories with their obsolesence management to ensure that mission critical machinery remains online. Other jobs include the redesign of a power supply and asset maintenance for a large hotel firm.”
