A popular toy shop is celebrating its second birthday.

The Rocking Horse in Quarry Rigg, Bowness, specialises in traditional wooden toys and is a family run business.

Mother and daughter Marlyn and Amanda Griffiths, opened the shop two years ago after running a similar outlet for the previous six years.

Amanda said: "We took the decision to re-locate in Bowness as we really liked the area. We happened to be in Windermere over Christmas and spotted the shop when we were walking around.

"We then quickly decided it was the perfect location for us and everything happened quite smoothly from that point on."

Ms Griffiths added: "We have some really exciting developments in the pipeline including children's clothes for youngsters aged between two and six. The clothes are handmade by my mum, and we've had a great response so far.

"We would like to say a massive thank you to our loyal customers for their support over the last two years. We have welcomed returning customers from up and down the country and it means a lot to us that they love The Rocking Horse as much as we do."

Other popular brands sold at The Rocking Horse include, Brio, Bigjigs Toys, Le Toy Van, and Melissa and Doug.
