A family run Kendal business is expanding into a larger showroom and workshop as sales are on the increase.

Kentdale Jaguar Land Rover in Shap Road in the town has announced plans to build a larger show room and workshop on the same site.

The multi million pound venture is likely to generate additional jobs and have a positive effect on the local economy.

Kenny Curran, the head of business of the family run company said: "We anticipate employing at least an additional 10 staff, which is on the back of eight or nine last year when we also took on Jaguar.

"These will include technicians, service advisors, parts advisors and apprentices, and we will be increasing our floor space from 12 to 20 bays."

Nationally, Jaguar Land Rover is looking at recruiting an additional 5,000 staff, whilst many other car dealers are a little more cautious with Brexit negotiations now underway.

It has been a record year of sales nationally, with sales at the Kendal branch also positive.

Mr Curran went on to say: "We have taken a positive outlook on the Brexit negotiations. We know that is its going to happen, and a negative approach wouldn't help anyone. We will be involved in the sale of electric vehicles too, which will mean training and developing staff in this area.

"Sales we hope will continue to rise, and I would encourage anyone who is interested in joining the team to keep an eye on our website which is where we will advertise for staff."

Worldwide, Jaguar Land Rover has more than 40,000 employees.
