A Cumbrian business support organisation is hoping for triple success at an awards ceremony in London this Friday.

Britain’s Energy Coast (BEC) could be crowned the country’s Local Enterprise Agency of the Year, as well as scoop the Future of Enterprise Support award, and a special award for the Albion Square complex.

The organisation’s business support team is heading to London for the National Enterprise Network’s annual conference, where the winners of the 2015 NEN awards will be announced.

BEC’s work with the Albion Square development in Whitehaven (together with Copeland Borough Council, Sellafield, the NDA and the Centre for Leadership Performance) was also praised as an excellent example of teamwork by the judges of the Enterprise Team of the Year category.

BEC both signposts to, and delivers, business support across Copeland and Allerdale. With its shortlisting in the coveted Local Enterprise Agency of the Year Award, BEC has been singled out as a quality provider of enterprise support in the UK.

The quality of the team’s thinking has been commended in the Future of Enterprise Support award – where BEC outlined how it felt the support sector could help more and more small businesses.

Incoming Britain’s Energy Coast CEO, Michael Pemberton, stated: “The shortlisting is a fantastic way to round out the year for BEC. It really celebrates the hard work that has gone in over the last 12 months and gives the team a real boost as we head into 2016 and the redefinition of our strategy.”
