A COCKERMOUTH creative agency looks set to double its turnover in just one year.

Wombat Creative's customers include Lakes College, Dunmail Park shopping centre and the Energy Coast UTC.

Its turnover last year was around £100,000. This year it is likely to be nearer the £200,000 mark.

The company has recently taken on new staff to cope with demand for their services and Fraser Hannah, marketing director, said:  "It's the quality of our work that's led to the expansion.

"Much of our work comes through word of mouth.

"It's important to us that we work closely with our clients and really understand and meet their needs.

"We see our clients' success as our success."

The business was set up six years ago by Mr Hannah and his fellow University of Cumbria graduate, Jason Savage as a website development company.

They were looking for work when Mr Savage spotted offices for rent at £45 a week in Cockermouth.

They changed direction, set up for themselves and haven't look back.

Their most recent appointment is another graduate of the University of Cumbria, Martha Kane, of Workington.

She said: "In Cumbria, job opportunities like this are quite limited.

"I really wanted to find a role in content marketing and had completed a course on inbound marketing.

"I knew exactly what I wanted to do, it was just finding a role that would allow me to do it.”

Mr Hannah added: "As the company has grown we’ve steadily taken on more people.

"We're very passionate about investing in learning and it’s important for us to nurture talent so we can grow and expand."
