SELLAFIELD Ltd has extended the Infrastructure Strategic Alliance (ISA) contract held by a Morgan Sindall/Arup joint venture for a further five years.
The contract was awarded in 2012 to provide the nuclear site with essential infrastructure, such as the provision and distribution of steam, electricity, water supply, roads, bridges and car parks.
It was for an initial five-year period, with an option to extend for a further 10 years, with a potential value of up to £1.1bn over the contract period.
The extension takes it through to 2022.
Simon Smith, Morgan Sindall Arup joint venture board member, said: “The extension builds on our commitment to deliver the most complex and challenging infrastructure projects for our customer.
“The alliance is not only a key vehicle for delivering infrastructure improvements on site at Sellafield, it is also driving wider socio-economic benefit across Cumbria.”
