THE "perfect opportunity" to let people know what Keswick Scaffolding Services does has motivated Robert Nelson to enter our Business Boost competition.

He runs the firm with his partner Stacey Agnew and they are now in with the chance to win £10,000 of advertising.

The business aims to provide an affordable service to Keswick and the surrounding area.

He took over as the company's managing director last year, following in the footsteps of both his uncle and her stepfather.

Mr Nelson, 31, pointed out that he is helping to bring something new to the Allerdale town.

He said: "There isn't any other scaffolding business in Keswick so what I am doing is bringing a new trade to the town."

The firm has four members of staff but has had as many as nine - Mr Nelson is keen to see the number of employees grow.

He was raised in Keswick but now lives in Whitehave and while the firm is focussed on the Keswick area it has also taken on jobs as far away as Cockermouth and Coniston.

Mr Nelson confessed though that advertising and promotion was not his strength and would welcome the chance to get some help from CN Group, publishers of The Cumberland News .

When Miss Agnew saw the competition advertised, she immediately entered the firm.

“I feel this is the perfect opportunity for us to be able to get our name out there and get people to hear about our company," they said.

“We want to move forward and grow our business, this requires more jobs which we believe could come from the correct advertising in the right places.”

Alongside the advertising, CN Group’s Business Boost competition could see entrants pick up top mentoring advice from the region’s business leaders.

Six businesses will win £10,000 to spend on advertising in our newspapers and websites – there will be one winner from each category for north, west and south Cumbria.

You can apply to enter now at www.cumberlandnews.co.uk/businessboost

CN Group's other publications around the county are also looking for entries.

The closing date is Friday, March 31.
