Napthens Solicitors, with branches in Kendal and Penrith, has risen from 25th to seventh in the north west in a league table, after the firm was involved in five deals.

The league table is calculated on the volume of corporate deals in which a law firm's experts have led.

The review was undertaken by data experts Experian, with the results based upon the UK and Ireland’s mergers and acquisitions, during the first quarter of 2017.

The outcome is that Napthens have been placed in the north west’s top ten for volume of deals.

The report reveals that 126 deals were announced for the region, in the quarter, worth a total of £3.2bn.

The report also states: 'in a region where overall value figures are susceptible to drastic fluctuations from quarter to quarter, the north west performed well. The headline figure remains comfortably above the average recorded over the past several years.'

Richard Robinson, head of corporate at Napthens, said: “This report shows the strength of our regional economy and highlights some of the great work being done here by both businesses and their advisors."

Mr Robinson added: “We have a strong corporate and commercial team at Napthens, and being ranked alongside a host of well-known national practices shows that we can compete in style with the large firms from Manchester and Liverpool when advising on transactions.”

The law firm has branches throughout Lancashire and Cumbria.
