Three members of staff at accountancy firm Dodd & Co - Martin Klugowski, Shardia Sahib and Jonathan Ridley - have been promoted to management roles.

Mr Klugowski has become a client manager in the healthcare team, advising GP practices about financial affairs.

Miss Sahib is responsible for promoting the businesses, which has offices in Carlisle and Penrith. She joined as a marketing assistant three years ago following a spell with Cumbria Tourism .

And Mr Ridley has joined the management team in the Penrith tax department. He advises clients on complex areas of tax legislation.

Karen Stalker managing director at Stalkers Transport Services of Brampton, has narrowly missed out on a national award.

She was a runner-up for 'leader of the year' at the Women in Logistics Awards after restoring the family firm to profit following a major restructure.

Richard B Petch has joined property and construction consultancy Rider Levett Bucknall (RLB) as a senior partner at its nuclear team based in Egremont.

He previously worked at Sellafield Ltd where he was deputy commercial director, and commercial head of transition, on secondment from Amec Foster Wheeler. He has more than 30 years' experience in heavy engineering, property and construction.

Rory O'Neill, who has been stakeholder relations director at Sellafield Ltd for the last four years, will leave the company at the end of the summer.

He says it is "mission accomplished" and plans to return to London to spend time with his family.

Rachel Lightfoot has joined Penrith Farmers and Kidd’s plc , in Penrith, as a senior planner.

She previously ran her own company, Positive Planning Solutions , and has also worked for Story Homes , Carlisle City Council and Eden Council .

Northern Security has appointed Sue Howarth as a supervisor, overseeing workplace operations and to support employee development.

She is former customer experience manager for Virgin Trains and will use her expertise to develop the personal skills and attributes of the Kingstown, Carlisle-based firm's 150 security staff.

Andrew Pow, of Windermere, has been selected to sit on the committee of the Association of Independent Specialist Medical Accountants (AISMA) .

This is a voluntary role, which will see him help with Government lobbying and advising on financial issues, including the problems faced by GP practices.
