The principal of Newton Rigg College at Penrith is to leave next year.

Wes Johnson will take up the role of principal at Lancaster and Morecambe College in the spring.

He joined Newton Rigg in January 2012, after it became part of the Askham Bryan family. In 2014 his responsibilities were widened to encompass Askham Bryan’s centres at Newcastle, Teesside and Hexham.

He moves to Lancaster and Morecambe College to replace David Wood, who is retiring.

, an event specialist in Lancashire whose portfolio includes Keswick Mountain Festival and Born Survivor.

The Event Safety Group is the new name for Mountain Trauma Rescue Services, which has rebranded following the Bowland acquisition.

One of Cumbria's growing band of Michelin-starred chefs, Kevin Tickle, has agreed to become a 'brand ambassador' for John Chapman. The Carlisle firm produces hand-made canvas and leather shoulder bags, luggage, rucksacks and fishing bags.

Mr Tickle is head chef at Forest Side, Grasmere, and, like his mentor Simon Rogan, makes use of ingredients foraged from the Cumbrian countryside. He now has a bespoke foraging bag produced by John Chapman.

Kendal law firm Harrison Drury has appointed a business development manager to steer it through a new phase of growth.

Kris Midgley, a specialist in business and professional services, will head up the marketing and business development activity at the firm.

The appointment is to help streamline growth, which has seen the firm more than quadruple in size in six years.

Mr Midgley was previously the PR and digital communications manager with QASSS and also worked for Blue Orchid Management Consultants, a provider of business start-up and growth consultancy.

A building site manager from Cumbria has won a regional title in the second round of the National House Building Council's (NHBC) Pride in the Job Awards 2016.

Barry Pattinson, of Lattimer Homes in Mealsgate, was recognised for his work at Sheila Fell Close in Aspatria.

He was one of 12 site managers - the only one from Cumbria - to receive 'seal of excellence' awards at a ceremony in Manchester, and he was the outright winner of the 'small builder' category.

He goes forward to compete for the Supreme Awards in London in January.

Lucy Barwise, from RSM’s Cumbria office at Westlakes Science and Technology Park , near Whitehaven, has been presented with a special pin and certificate by t he Earl of Wessex for her support of the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award charity.

The presentation took place at RSM’s head office in London where the Earl attended a business breakfast to celebrate the diamond anniversary of the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award.

The accountant and business adviser EY has appointed Bob Ward as its new senior partner for the North West.

He takes up the post on January 1, replacing Simon Allport who has held the role since 2008.
