LAW firm Napthens firm has pledged to raise £25,000 for the Cumbria Community Foundation.
The firm, which is based in Preston but has branches in Penrith and Kendal, has chosen the charity to support during 2016 and beyond.
Cumbria Community Foundation was set up to support people and organisations wishing to invest in the local community.
The charity has made grants totaling more than £21m since it was founded in 1999, most recently to many of the county's flood victims.
James Todhunter, Napthens’ head of Cumbria, said: “The foundation has a history of carrying out great work, and everyone here is excited to be announcing this challenge.
"Our target of £25,000 is a lot to raise, but we have some great ideas and can’t wait to get started. "We hope the local business community will join us in our efforts.”
The first activity is a five-a-side football match on Tuesday evening at Penrith Leisure Centre.
