A campaign to promote the superb career and lifestyle opportunities available in Cumbria is in the running for an international award.

Choose Cumbria, under its previous name of Choose South Cumbria, will compete with entries from Brazil and Canada in the International News Media Association (INMA) Global Media Awards 2016 in London tomorrow.

It has been nominated in the ‘best launch of a brand or product to create an audience segment’ category,

The campaign is managed and delivered by CN Group, parent company of in-Cumbria/inThe Bay, working in partnership with a wide range of local employers. It is one of just eight entries from the UK to make the finals and is the only one to compete in its category.

Luke Dicicco, project manager of Choose Cumbria, said: “The excitement is really building and we can’t wait to represent Cumbria at these major international awards.

“It is a massive achievement to get to this stage and we, and everyone involved with the campaign, already feel like winners.”

In total, 40 countries from Argentina to Australia are among the 117 finalists at the event at the Victoria and Albert Museum.

Earl J. Wilkinson, executive director and chief execeutive of INMA, said: “The finalists for this year's Global Media Awards are aspirational brand stories connecting with audiences, delivering value for advertisers, and making a commitment to innovation.”

Choose South Cumbria was launched in May 2015 and, following a successful pilot year, expanded to promote the whole of Cumbria as the best place to work, live, learn and play.
