A Parliamentary event at Westminster this month will showcase Cumbrian businesses and produce on a national level.

Cumbria Day on December 6 is a networking event sponsored by Cumbria Local Enterprise Partnership designed to help raise the county’s economic profile with key decision makers.

Organised by the county’s six MPs – Jamie Reed, Tim Farron, John Woodcock, John Stevenson, Rory Stewart and Sue Hayman – it will show Parliamentarians the broad range of successful businesses and sectors thriving in the county.

Three businesses from each of Cumbria’s constituencies have been invited to attend. They include Bowness Bay Brewery, Grasmere Gingerbread, W McClure, The Lakes Distillery, the Rum Story and Cumbrian Cow Ice Cream.

The aim of the event is to achieve greater influence with central government and encourage additional investment and commitment to Cumbria’s thriving industries.

Graham Haywood, director of Cumbria Local Enterprise Partnership, said: “Cumbria Day is a prime opportunity for us to show the rest of the country the breadth of economic activity, business growth and success being attained here.

“I know it’s been very hard for each of our MPs to select only three businesses each to attend for their own constituency.

“There are so many others which deserve a mention and the event is a great way to celebrate enterprise and business achievement.”
