THE showcase Borderway Agri-Expo returns to Carlisle today, when the agricultural event celebrates its 10th anniversary in the city.
Packed crowds were expected to fill Harrison & Hetherington's Borderway Exhibition Hall to watch as a record number of 965 livestock go head to head to win the prestigious awards.
In the nine years since its launch, there has been a grand total of 6,525 cattle and sheep shown at the event, and last year saw in the region of 12,000 spectators.
Reflecting on a ten-year success story, David Pritchard, Operations Director for Harrison & Hetherington said: "It is absolutely incredible how Borderway Agri-Expo has grown and developed since it was first established.
"From what was a very challenging year in 2007, the entire team here who work on the event never imagined it would become the size it has done today."
With a total of 41 livestock classes, and total prize money to the value of £15,000, the 2016 Borderway Agri-Expo was expected to attract some of the most highly sought after livestock in the country.
