Barrow AFC season ticket holders will be returning to Holker Street tomorrow after nearly nine months away from the ground.
Football fans have been banned from entering stadiums since late March as a result of the pandemic.
This meant that Bluebirds fans have had to stay away from Holker Street after Barrow won promotion to the Football League after a 48-year absence.
Barrow’s first 15 games back in the league have been played behind closed doors.
However this is set to change on Saturday with just over 1,100 Bluebirds supporters set for their Holker Street homecoming.
Steve Herbert, chairman of the Bluebirds Trust, said: “It’s an incredible feeling to finally have a crowd back at Holker Street.
“Both the team and the town were robbed of the magical promotion moments by this virus and it’s wonderful to finally come together and celebrate.
“I am just so pleased for all the fans who have missed out on so much and hopefully they can add an extra lift to our team.
“Hopefully, it will be one of those Holker Street occasions where the supporters and the team come together and celebrate our return."
The Bluebirds’ League Two fixture against Salford City will be used by the club as a pilot event.
Currently only season ticket holders will be permitted to attend Saturday’s game.
The club will be looking to allow 400 non-season ticket holders to enter the stadium for future matches if Saturday’s pilot event goes as planned.
Mr Herbert, who has been working with the club during the Covid-19 crisis, said: “Many people in the club, and the community have worked incredibly hard to get us to this stage and I thank every one of them.
“It is up to all of us to make it work, so we can increase capacity and start the long road back to normality.”
