Luke Dicicco, editor of in-Cumbria, has laid down a challenge to businesses across the county.

He says: "Let’s smash the 2019 record for entries to the in-Cumbria Business Awards.

"Last year saw more than 300 entries submitted across 17 award categories celebrating the achievements of entrepreneurs and businesses across all industry sectors.

"Of course, it was not just about the quantity. The quality of entries also outshone previous awards, with entrants well and truly stepping up to the plate.

"Businesses raised the bar to new heights in 2019.

"Shortlisting three finalists in each of the categories was extremely tough, with so many missing out by the narrowest of margins.

“And when it came to deciding the winners, the finalists gave our expert judges had some sleepless nights.

“We’re now laying down a tough challenge to Cumbria’s thriving business community.

"Please bombard us with high quality entries so we smash last year’s figure.

"Please make our job really hard in deciding the finalists, and, help ensure we put our expert judges through the grinder once again!

“As the saying goes, you have to be in it to win it.

"Don’t hide your light under a bushel and miss a golden opportunity for you and your business to shine. Entering the in-Cumbria Business Awards 2020 could well end up being the best thing you do this year.”
