TWO teenage boys were threatened by masked thugs armed with a knife while at a park in West Kirby.

At around 8.15pm on Sunday, April 21 it was reported that a 14-yar-old boy was sitting on a bench with his friend in Ashton Park when two males wearing a face covering approached them and them went to take their bikes.

When one of the boys tried to stop the offenders he was threatened with a knife and an unknown object places against his chest.

The boy was not injured but shaken by the robbery.

The bike is an orange and black Giant Talon mountain bike.

An investigation is underway with officers carrying out forensic, CCTV, house-to-house and witness enquiries.

Detective inspector Philip Ryan said: “We are carrying out enquiries into this incident, and I would appeal to anyone who was in vicinity to please contact us.

“The use of knives and any weapons is reckless and will not be tolerated, and can have devastating consequences, not only for the victim and their family but also for the offenders involved.

“I would urge people to educate themselves and speak to their children and family members about the dangers of knife crime.

“We continue to seek out those involved in knife crime, enticing young and vulnerable people to carry weapons or involved in gangs.”
