A popular gift shop is going to hold its very own Dave Day in tribute to Barrow's favourite biker.

Expressions in Barrow will be joining others on June 8 in celebration of the life of Hairy Biker Dave Myers, who died on February 28.

Dave, who was born in Barrow, died aged 66 - two years after revealing he had been diagnosed with cancer.

Thousands of bikers are heading to Dave's hometown from London.

The convoy is due to start out in the capital before stopping along the way allowing others from across the country to join.

Bikers will head from the Ace Café in London at around 8am, arriving outside Barrow Town Hall before 4pm.

Dave Day will then see people gather at the Barrow Raiders ground for a celebration concert.

As well as this, there will be a stage outside Barrow Town Hall with bands playing.

The Mail: Expressions has chosen to pay tribute to Dave in their own way.

Angela Harrison, the manager of the Barrow store, said: "There's going to be so many people in the town centre that day so we just wanted to join in the love.

"It's going to be a real day of fun. We're going to dress up in biker jacket and fake beards in tribute to the Hairy Bikers."

The shop is also going to be raising money for a cancer charity by doing a give away for a £2 donation.

Angela added: "We're just in the process of organising which charity we're going to work with. In terms of the giveaway it will most likely be two or three accessories and more details will be posted in the run up to Dave Day."
