The Brackenrigg Inn, a renovated country pub, has opened in the Lake District.

This new venture by Another Place, The Lake reimagines the traditional country pub, boasting an atmospheric bar, seven bedrooms, a terrace, and six acres of meadows.

The Inn, which is a few minutes’ walk from the hotel, offers views of Ullswater and the nearby fells.

The bar carries local beers, spirits, and soft drinks, reflecting Cumbrian flavours which extend to the kitchen.

From bar snacks to hearty meals, the cuisine celebrates Cumbrian producers with dishes like Cumberland sausage and mash, and sticky toffee pudding.

The inn’s seven guest bedrooms each have their own character.

The rooms provide a rustic sanctuary with earthy tones and pops of bold colour and floral prints.

Guests can avail of facilities at Another Place, including its indoor pool, outdoor hot tub, and lake sports equipment.

They can also enjoy meals at three restaurants and leisurely reading at the on-site library.

"To minimise the environmental impact of the refit, we sourced 80 per cent of the furniture from local antique shops – mostly in Penrith, just ten minutes down the road - with other pieces found at auction and some made bespoke by local craftsmen," said interior designer Gillian Panter.

There are hopes to plant a kitchen garden and orchards, build a natural children’s play area, outdoor feast space, and re-establish the pub’s tap room and microbrewery.

David Vaughan, Another Place hotels director, said: "Our bar, restaurant, terrace and rooms will bring a new energy to Ullswater’s north east shore, as well as enhancing the experience for Another Place guests.”
