A secondary school has launched its latest charity appeal in aid of a local animals' charity.

William Howard School, Brampton's Vindolanda House launched the school's charity appeal in aid of Oak Tree Animals' Charity in March, with this coming after Eden House's successful toy collection for Eden Valley Hospice and Jigsaw Children's Hospice earlier this year.

As part of the appeal, Vindolanda House is asking the local community to donate pet food, blankets, packed hay, bowls, and other related pet items to the school which can subsequently be given to the local charity.

Glenn Tanner, head of Vindolanda House, said:  "Many students now have a pet at home and recognise the cost involved in looking after and maintaining animal health.

"Oak Tree needs the donations as sadly more animals arrive at the charity particularly due to the cost of living crisis in the last year.

"We hope to be able to fill the trolley full of blankets, toys, and treats."

The school's collection will run until May 2024 and the donation can be found in the reception.
