H&H Group is inviting women to celebrate International Women’s Day with a business lunch in Carlisle.

The event, following the success of the inaugural Cumbrian Women in Business Lunch, is scheduled for March 7 at the Auctioneer’s Suite at Borderway.

The lunch is aimed at recognising women's significant impact within the region's business sphere, and provides a remarkable platform for new ideas and networking opportunities.

Entry is free and guests are invited to make donations for H&H Group’s chosen charity.

Margaret Irving, personnel manager and company secretary for H&H Group, will chair the lunch.

The keynote speakers are Amy Bateman, British Life Photographer of the Year and author of Forty Farms; and Laura Cadman, life coach and leadership development trainer.

Ms Irving said: "Starting or running a business can be a daunting prospect for many women, and this event provides a wonderful platform for discussion where new ideas can be planted, and future plans made.

"International Women’s Day celebrates the role women play within business and industry all over the world, and we are delighted that two of Cumbria’s most inspirational businesswomen have agreed to represent the region for us.

"Amy and Laura are outstanding examples of successful women business leaders, and their experience and insight will be fascinating."

Ms Bateman shifted to freelance photography in 2019, focusing on people, places and artisanal goods.

Her book Forty Farms broadened into an outdoor exhibition circulating the woodland trail at Low Sizergh Farm near Kendal.

It was awarded Lakeland Book of the Year in 2023.

Ms Cadman, having settled in Carlisle since 2006, holds a 14-year blend of senior leadership roles, including chief executive officer at Cumbria CVS and assistant director of Delivery at Eden District Council.

Through her coaching, she focuses on reshaping businesses by moulding leadership, culture and effectiveness.

Ms Irving added: "Women play an increasingly important part in the development of business and industry in this part of the world, and our working lunch offers a perfect opportunity to meet inspiring women who are leading the way."
