DPD has officially opened a new 62,000 sqft warehouse at Kingmoor Park, promising to deliver 'cutting-edge logistics and seamless deliveries' across the county.

The warehouse was officially operational on January 15.

The new build located on Kingmoor Park Road, being led by Kingmoor Park Properties, aims to cement the organisation as a core employer within the area, upping its staffing intake to around 350 jobs

The new site will facilitate both office management positions and a 'significant number of HGV employment'.

Managing director of Kingmoor Park Properties, Neil McIntyre, said: "We are pleased to mark the opening and operation of the latest development at K2 Kingmoor.

"The new 62,000 sqft DPD warehouse, will provide cutting-edge logistics and seamless deliveries all from a central location at Kingmoor Park," he said.

Plans are also in motion for an 'exchange hub' on the adjacent grounds of the DPD site.

"We are currently developing an exchange hub which will sit beside the DPD site and will provide additional capacity to the current operation.

"We look forward to watching on as DPD embark on a new chapter at K2, as a symbol of progress and efficiency," Mr McIntyre said.

DPD's expansion aligns with the overall growth of Kingmoor Park, which has undergone substantial development over the past decade.

In the last five to ten years, staff on the Kingmoor Park site has grown from 1,000 to over 3,000.

DPD is a member of DPDgroup, one of Europe’s leading parcel groups, owned by France’s La Poster, the second-largest postal group in Europe.

Earlier this month, a DPD spokesperson said: “We have opportunities to come join our collection and delivery team with franchise opportunities.

"We have routes available for the right people in CA, DG, TD, ML, or NE postcodes starting in February, with training during January."

Expected earnings within the first year for drivers is at £24,000, according to latest job postings.

Positions such as apprenticeships and transport controllers are also being advertised.
