A CARLISLE business is looking forward to an 'exciting' future after settling into its new headquarters.

Interfresh, a wholesale supplier of fresh produce and dairy products across the hospitality and catering industry, provides services across Cumbria, southern Scotland, and Lancashire.

The company had previously been based in Caldewgate, supplemented by warehouses in Carlisle and Kendal.

However, in the wake of the business's continued growth, plans were drawn for the expansion of its facilities, with the move from Caldewgate to Kingstown Industrial Estate getting underway in November before being completed in the new year.

Interfresh's managing director Will Box provided more details about the relocation.

He said: "We have merged the Caldewgate and Kendal warehouses into this main Kingstown HQ now and it sets up really well for the next few years to continue our growth.

"We have struggled with space. It has always been an issue for us as we have grown at a pace where we had outgrown our base in Caldewgate, but we had to stick with it for the last couple of years.

"It had kind of restricted our growth but now we are looking forward to being able to continue with current customers and supply them with a vaster range of products which is exciting for us."

Mr Box also discussed his excitement about Interfresh's plans for the further expansion of their services and product range now that they have moved into their larger headquarters on the Kingstown Industrial Estate.

He said: "It has doubled our office space and warehouse space, which leads us to be able to hold more products and we are adding new product lines each month.

"We are predominately fresh produce, we dabble in a bit of dairy produce but now we have got new cold rooms built, we can now extend this dairy line quite considerably.

"It also positions us really well to look after the business we have got - being right on the motorway now - but also leads into new areas that we haven't tapped into yet.

"We are looking forward to going up into Scotland, we have never really gone further than Gretna so our plan is to head up towards Dumfries and Galloway and over into the North East."
