Barrow residents are being invited to train as Tesco workers to meet the seasonal rush.

PHX Training, a leading North West training provider, has partnered with PeoplePlus and Tesco for this initiative.

With offices in Workington, Barrow, Carlisle, and beyond, PHX Training is offering intensive two-week courses that include customer services, retail, health and wellbeing, along with essential digital skills.

Julie Torrance, Head of Employment and Training at PHX Training, said: “We are delighted to be supporting Tesco and PeoplePlus with the programme, and helping young people looking to retrain in a new sector to find work.

“This intensive level of training can help dozens of people to quickly reskill and find work in a key role over the Christmas period as well as helping people to get back into employment during a busy time of year.”

Those eligible are prospective employees within the age group of 19 to 30 years.

Successful candidates will engage in a work placement stint of 16 hours at Tesco superstores in Barrow, Workington, and Carlisle.

Moreover, candidates can secure a guaranteed interview with the supermarket giant upon completion.

The training will start on Monday, October 16, followed by the placement which starts on Monday, October 30.

Trainees will get recognised qualifications in customer service and personal money management upon finishing the programme.

Tesco has exclusively selected PHX Training and PeoplePlus as partners for its Movement to Work endeavour.

Movement to Work, a registered UK charity, was founded in 2013 by some of the UK’s largest employers.

Its objective is to offer high-quality work experience and training to unemployed youth.

PHX Training offers an array of training courses and vocational programs.

The company aids individuals in re-entering the workforce via training plans, career advice, CV writing workshops, interview techniques, and so forth.
