*Rachel Smithson has joined Stan Sherlock Associates in Carlisle as their HR manager.Rachel, who has more than 13 years’ experience in human resources, says:“I was looking for my next opportunity when I found out that Stan Sherlock Associates were looking to move their previously outsourced HR provision in house, as their team continues to grow. I’m so excited to be on this journey with them helping them and their employees achieve their goals!”
*The Lake District Calvert Trust has appointed Helen Archibald as Head of Income Generation. Helen joins the Lake District Calvert Trust from the University of Manchester, where she was Head of Philanthropy. In a career spanning twenty years, she has also held a range of senior roles in fundraising and communications. Helen says: “As I have strong family connections to Keswick I have known and admired the Trust’s work for a long time. It is a real privilege to take on this role leading our fantastic fundraising, sales and marketing and business development teams. “There is a real feel-good factor around the Trust and I am looking forward to building on the great work that’s already been done.”
*H&H Land & Estates has made a couple of key appointments. Chartered surveyor and valuer Mark Barrow has joined the company in the role of director for the company’s South Lakes business. Mark is returning to the business where he began his career, after having worked for a rival estate agent for the past three years.Born and brought up on his family’s farm near Appleby in the Eden Valley, where his family still farm dairy and sheep, he graduated from the University of Central Lancashire with an Honours Degree in Environment and Land Management. He went on to achieve a Postgraduate Distinction in Surveying from the College of Estate Management and was awarded the Alistair Turnbull prize for the highest marks in the Northumbria and Cumbria branch of the Central Association of Agricultural Valuers fellowship exams.
H & H has also appointed Pauline Carrera-Silva as Residential Lettings Manager.
She has more than 20 years’ experience in Lettings Management at managerial level. Based at the company’s Borderway office in Carlisle, she will take responsibility for the management and development of the H&H Land & Estates Lettings Team.
*Oxley Group in Ulverston has welcomed a cohort of nine apprentices into the business - the largest in the company’s recent history. The new recruits will be involved in a range of roles across business administration and design, quality and engineering. CEO Darren Cavan says: “Oxley has been at the heart of the Furness community for 80 years and we intend to be here for 80 more. We’re delighted to welcome the new team members into the organisation and wish them well with their future career at Oxley.”
