A NEW, independently run sofa shop is coming to Carlisle later this month.
Lakeland Sofa Warehouse will open its first-ever physical premises in the Atlas Works, Denton Holme, Carlisle, on September 26.
Selling a range of sofas from simple two-seaters to electric recliners with in-built speakers, the Lakeland Sofa Warehouse’s new premises will aim to bring a try-before-you-buy aspect to their business, which is currently just online.
It is hoped this will add something to the region's offer.
“Living locally, we get people telling us they go to Newcastle for sofas, and that the only place around here is DFS,” a spokesperson from the business said.
“Being in the sofa trade for 24 years now, I know the main importers around the UK, so we thought we’d put large selection in Cumbria in a warehouse in Atlas Works, which is the ideal place and size for us."
He added that a good selection of sofas will be on show, from recliners to fabric sofas, and U-shaped sofas which are currently very popular, with all the available colours.
A third-party delivery company will deliver the sofa for free to a room of the customer’s choice in their house within five to ten days after purchase.
“We can offer finance immediately, we have Klarna and Clear Pay available, and you can pay six months interest-free, and that goes up to 48 months,” he added.
He said they will see how it goes at first, but said there may be moves to expand: “We have a couple of people working for us full-time, but we do want to bring people on from the local area, and eventually what we want to do is local deliveries ourselves, instant deliveries, but what we need for that is more space - there is call for that, though.”
There will also be beds added to their stock soon.
