Ulverston manufacturing business Oxley has welcomed a record-breaking cohort of nine apprentices, marking the largest intake in the company's recent history.

The expansion of the Oxley apprentice recruitment programme highlights the crucial role apprentices play in stimulating growth and supporting the organisation's efforts to improve productivity and increase exports.

The newly recruited apprentices will be responsible for a range of roles across Business Administration and Design, Quality, and Engineering.

Oxley offers a full turnkey solution, allowing the apprentices a unique opportunity to move around different departments within the business.

Apprenticeships offer young people the opportunity to earn while they learn, acquiring valuable qualifications alongside on-the-job training.

Once they successfully complete the program, the apprentices will be equipped with the necessary experience and expertise to transition into various roles within Oxley's Ulverston site.

Oxley's commitment to developing future talent has been recognised by Make UK, naming the company as a regional 2023 finalist in the Developing Future Talent Category for excellence in supporting early careers.

Oxley Group CEO, Darren Cavan, said: "Oxley has been at the heart of the Furness community for 80 years and we intend to be here for 80 more. In 2023, we achieved a record level of order intake, to fulfil our growth potential we need to develop the team, bringing in new talent and skills. We’re delighted to welcome the new team members into the organisation and wish them well with their future career at Oxley."
