PLANS have been lodged to allow a campsite to continue operating.

Pitch on the Wall campsite, at Heddon-on-the-Wall, has previously operated under 'general permitted development' rules.

Now, to meet demand, owner John Bramwell, has submitted a planning application to Northumberland County Council requesting a change of use from agricultural land to the campsite land north west of Rudchester roundabout.

A planning statement, drawn up by agents George F White, explains that the site will operate from April 1 to September 30 each year with a maximum of 50 pitches at any one time. Cars are limited to one per pitch.

The statement says that the non-electric, back-to-basics site, which can be booked online from £12.50 per night and has a staff member on-site between 4-7pm, supports development and tourism.

A previous planning application for change of use was submitted and withdrawn in March 2022 following discussions with the local planning authority who suggested the application be resubmitted with additional information.

The site, where group bookings of more than six are not permitted and under 18s must be accompanied by an adult, is expected to host a two-day music festival later this year.

Legends on the Wall, by R&J Events, Liveworld Ltd and Funshack, will see tribute bands perform alongside local talent on July 7 and 8.

The site is also expected to host a Summer MaDDness car event and has held fireworks displays.
