A HEXHAM-BASED drinks company is behind the world's longest advert.

Fentimans filmed the ad in the Northumberland countryside.

The advert was filmed over the course of seven days close to Sycamore Gap and will air today (June 1). It was created to celebrate Fentimans' botanical brewing process which takes at least seven days to complete.

Fentimans marketing director, Jayne Andrews, said: “Here at Fentimans, we’re proud of our North East heritage so when it came to deciding where to film the world’s longest advert, the Northumberland Countryside was a no-brainer.

“As well as our Northern roots, we are known for our unique, seven-day botanical brewing process as it’s what gives our drinks the distinct and complex depth of flavour our customers know and love.

"What better way to bring our slow process to life than to set it up for seven days for the world to see in the place we originated."

During the advert, Fentimans' master brewer oversees the brewing process, waiting for the liquid to develop. During which time, he attempts to keep himself entertained with a number of activities from juggling, plate spinning and learning to speak Bulgarian.

As part of the advert launch, Fentimans is also running a competition from June 1-30 to give viewers the chance to win prizes by spotting one of eight surprises in the ad.

Prizes include a four-day trip for two to the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens in New York, tickets to Kew The Music Festival and London Sky Garden vouchers.
