Plans for a new 5G mast have been submitted.
Lodged by telecommunications company CK Hutchison Networks, proposals would see an 18-metre monopole erected on the junction between Allithwaite Road and Kirkhead Road, near Grange.
Its wrap-around cabinets would be at the base of the new pole restricted to the minimum height required for coverage, according to plans submitted to Westmorland and Furness Council.
The network states that the height of the pole is the best compromise of extending the 5G service across the target 'coverage hole' and insists it will fit in well with the immediate street scene.
The location is on a grass verge close to Jack Hill bus stop by a previous cabinet with the tree to its right being 3m shorter.
The installation would be an upgrade replacing previous coverage in the area, said the plans.
