WORKERS at a hugely popular ice cream business are busy working behind-the-scenes ahead of its 2023 opening.

On the outskirts of Ulverston, Cumbrian Cow Ice Cream is an on-farm, drive-thru ice cream parlour.

The business has timed the season opening for when the local schools all break up for their Spring Holidays on Friday March 31.

Known for their crazy, creative new flavours, Cumbrian Cow Ice Cream has revealed their existing list has over 80 different frozen desserts, with more to come soon, including Easter specials like 'Crème Egg' and 'Malt Bunny'.

The bestselling delicacy at Cumbrian Cow Ice Cream is the 'super popular' Belgian Chocolate. The Honeycomb also rates highly with customers as well as any of the white chocolate combinations.

Bosses are unsure whether or not they will be able to open the Walk in Cow Shed parlour because they are dependent on the paddock for parking so they may only be open to drive-thru.

The team is hoping for a steady start to its eighth year so all of the new staff members will have chance to get in to the swing of things.

Denise Stable, who owns Cumbrian Cow Ice Cream with her husband Mike, said: “It's been a huge job cleaning everywhere and getting all the grass cut ready for opening day, and that’s before we’ve even started making all the different batches of ice cream."

Denise acts as a manager and ice cream maker with two other ladies helping her create homemade masterpieces.

She said: “It's lovely to see customers that have been coming since we first opened, as well as an increasing number of holidaymakers, who come from all over the world, and seek us out.”
