THE Wheatsheaf Inn, Abbeytown has been taken over by new owners.

The news of the takeover was shared on the Inn's social media page on Monday, March 20.

This post confirmed that the pub would be under immediate new ownership and placed on record the gratitude of the previous owners.

They said: "Tony, Liz and family would like to take the opportunity to thank all of our customers over the past six years!

"As of today, The Wheatsheaf Inn will be taken over by new ownership. Any bookings or enquiries must be discussed over the telephone as our Facebook page will be shortly closed.

"Any outstanding vouchers will only be valid to use at either Tony Harrison's Butchers or the Greyhound Bromfield."

The Wheatsheaf's new owner Brian Cartwright has a wealth of experience taking over pubs and spoke about his goals after taking charge at the popular village hub.

He said: "It's not the first pub I have done, it's a strong food pub, so we are doing food. It's a new menu, a really good menu.

"Just in general I am going to try and build the web side up as well, that is what we tend to do, we go into pubs that need building up and we build them up.

"We have improved a lot of stuff in it and it is the only pub in the village so there are no other pubs and it is quite a built-up area."
